Primary school teachers countrywide are billed to undergo a day’s training for the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) today, October 30, 2019.
A statement from the Ghana Education Service(GES) signed by its Head, Public Relations, Cassandra Twum Ampofo said pupils in primary school will not attend school following the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) day.
The CPD has been adopted into the academic calendar to allow teachers to upgrade themselves with the requisite knowledge and skills in the teaching profession.
“The Ghana Education Service (GES) wishes to remind the general public, particularly KG 1 to Primary 6 teachers, pupils, parents and guardians that Wednesday, 30 October 2019 is Continuous Professional Development day for the teachers.
“As a result of the above-scheduled activity which is on the 2019/2020 academic calendar, KG1 to Primary 6 pupils will not attend school tomorrow Wednesday 30th October 2019, to enable the teachers have their full day of training and professional development.
“As part of GES effort to improve its workforce, Continuous Professional Development (CPD) has been formally adopted into the Academic Calendar to allow teachers upgrade themselves with the requisite knowledge and skills in the teaching profession,” the statement said.
