The Appointments Committee of Parliament will close the week with the appearance of the Finance Minister-designate, Attorney General nominee and the Parliamentary Affairs nominee, all scheduled to be vetted later this morning.
The Finance Minister-nominee, Ken Ofori-Atta’s vetting is the moment envisaged to attract many eyeballs following the central role his Ministry plays in the economy.
It’s expected that issues including taxation, revenue generation, and the widening of the tax net, as well as the infamous Agyapa deal, among others will be dealt with during his vetting.
Mr. Ofori-Atta in the latter part of the tenure in the last four years was embroiled in the controversial Agyapa Royalties deal which opened up the nominee to corruption allegations.
Later in the day, the appointment’s committee of Parliament will vet the Parliamentary Affairs nominee, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu and the nominee for Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame.
