Sod cut for construction of Ejura Sekyedumase Divisional Police Headquarters

A sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of the Ejura Sekyedumase Divisional Police Headquarters in the Ashanti Region has taken place at the forecourt of Ejurahene, Barima Osei Hwidie II, palace today Thursday 6th May 2021.

The completion of the project will see the Police Command being elevated from the current District status.

According to the Ejurahene, the project will be started with funds given to the Traditional Council by farmers in the area. He said the Member of Parliament for Ejura-Sekyedumase, Bawa Braimah has donated 200 bags of cement for the project.

Nana Ejurahene also indicated that the MCE for the area Salisu Bamba had suggested that a facility be rented for the time being to serve as the Divisional Police Headquarters while the assembly helps to build a permanent facility.

He noted that this will not be the first major project initiated by the Traditional Council as with support from others it constructed a six-bedroom residential accommodation for the Medical Superintendent for the area, and also constructed a nine semi-detached facility which is yet to be inaugurated for the Ghana National Fire Service.

Barima Osei Hwidie II, bemoaned how Fulani herdsmen usually from the period of November to March while grazing their cattle in Ejura engaged in all sorts of criminal activities including robbery, kidnapping, and rape.

He was hopeful that the provision of the Divisional Police Headquarters will stem the tide of increasing criminal activities in the area.

DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye who graced the sod-cutting ceremony commended the Traditional council for the initiative. He cautioned the residents against taking the law into their hands as such an act is unlawful and further urged them to be law-abiding.
