We’ve stopped producing movies based on trending issues – Movie Producer

The Chief Executive Officer of Nana Owusu Productions, Nana Yaw Owusu says the Ghanaian movie producers especially those in Kumawwod have ceased producing movies with themes based on current happenings in the counytry.

The Kumawood movie producers in the past are known to have produced moving based on trending issues either social or political.

Such films include “Atta Mortuary Man”.

Speaking to host Moses Aluebasi on Naagyei Entertainment show, Nana Yaw Owusu said he’s not sure such movies will ever be produced again because producers have learnt to do movies with very good contents which will be sell out.

“If we were still doing the old stuff like by now there will be a movie out may be titled Ofosu Ampofo amanehunu 1& 2, depicting the trial of the NDC National Chairman, Ofosu Ampofo. But we’ve gone past that era of such movies, we are increasing the standards in the movie industry a notch higher to international standards. Such movies based on trending issues have low budgets. We are not doing quality movies which can be premiered and bought online which can be compared to the international standard.”
