200 acres of rice farms destroyed by heavy rains in Aframso – Ejura Sekyedumase

Rice farmers in Aframso in the Ejura Sekyedumase municipality of the Ashanti Region are counting their loss following the destruction of over 200 acres of rice farms by heavy rains.

According to the farmers, the destruction was a result of an irrigation dam built for them by former President John Mahama overflowing its banks after torrential rains and submerging the farms.

The worried farmers are pleading with the government and the relevant authorities to come to their aid.

The NADMO Director for Ejura Sekyedumase, Salifu M. Abdul Razak who confirmed the disaster, in an interview with Naagyei FM’s Kwabena Adjei Adomarakwa advised farmers in Ejura and its environs to take keen note of climate change, urging them to be vigilant as we’ve entered the rainy season.
