Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe: The Akufo-Addo I knew is not the current president.

President Akufo-Addo, according to Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has sorely let down Ghanaians.

He claimed that the Nana Akufo-Addo who is currently president is not the one he knew and had conversations with about matters of national importance.

He stated that President Akufo-Addo, who once detested corruption, is now in charge of it and that nepotism is rampant.

On Wednesday, October 11, the former GFA President urged the President to get up and get going while appearing at a news conference on the subject of “The State of Ghana Today” that was organised by retired military leaders.

“These are crucial warning indicators that will undermine the state’s security. This requires our careful attention.

“The Akufo-Addo who is now president is not the Akufo-Addo I knew and had numerous conversations and demonstrations with.”

He also denounced the government appointees who are allegedly hiding large sums of cash in their residences.

If this is not addressed right now, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe continued, it will cause a spillover.

He claims that the youth are dissatisfied with the nation’s present events and that their worries cannot be disregarded.

We struggle to get a good night’s sleep because of our advanced age. Particularly under current administration led by President Akufo-Addo, Ghana has been plagued by suspected corruption caused by political office holders accumulating mysterious wealth, tribalism, nepotism, and parochialism in their interests.

How can ministers expect our youth, who are still largely without meaningful employment, to be satisfied when they accumulate large sums of cash in their homes in both foreign and local currencies, buy homes in desirable areas of Accra and other parts of the country, drive the most opulent cars, and live extravagantly?

The founder of the NPP also urged Dr. Ernest Addison, governor of the Bank of Ghana, to heed the demands of the parliamentary minority and resign.

“We have taken note of the Bank of Ghana Governor’s blatant disdain for demonstrators led by the Minority in Parliament and several irate Ghanaians with great worry. When additional well-intentioned Ghanaians joined the Occupy Bog protesters in March to express their outrage at decisions made that cost the government money, it cannot be said that their goals were exclusively political.

“Incompetence and inefficiency in public service should not be tolerated insofar as the product of such officers deprives regular Ghanaians of basic necessities. Resign if you are unable to complete the task. It really is that easy.
