he 2020 National Daily Minimum Wage has been set at GHC11.82 effective 1st January 2020.
The decision was arrived at after the National Tripartite Committee concluded its negotiations at a meeting held on Monday 26th August 2019.
The new minimum wage is eleven percent over the 2019 minimum wage of GHC10.65.
The Committee directs that all establishments, institutions or organizations whose daily minimum wage is below the National Daily Minimum wage should adjust their wages accordingly with effect from 1st January 2020.
A statement signed by the Minister of Employment, Ignatious Baffuor Awuah, President of the Ghana Employers Association, Daniel Acheampong and Dr. Yaw Baah, TUC Secretary-General warned that: “any establishment, institution or organization that flouts the new rate shall be sanctioned in accordance with the law.”
It further recommended that the National Daily Minimum Wage should be tax-exempt.
