Angry residents of Adenta in Accra have blocked the main Madina- Adenta highway after a young lady was crashed to death by a speeding vehicle Thursday afternoon.
The action by the residents has caused huge gridlock on that road which also leads to towns on the Akuapim Ridge and Koforidua.
A team of Police men who have stormed the scene are finding it difficult to bring the situation under control amidst the firing of rubber bullets and tear gas to disperse the teeming crowd who have taken over the road.
Eye witnesses say Police reinforcement have arrived at the scene to ensure law and order.
Reports say this year alone, 190 lives have been lost, particularly on the busy Ritz Junction, a situation the residents describe as worrying.
The residents are planning to hit the streets over six unfinished footbridges on the Madina/Adenta/Aburi highway a November 12, 2018.
