Asawase Primary: Nobody can stop me from contesting – Manaf Ibrahim

An aide to Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, Manaf Ibrahim has stated categorically that nobody can stop him from contesting the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Asawase parliamentary primary, saying he’ll file his nomination forms on 1st August 2019.

The NPP Ashanti Regional Executive council after a meeting on Monday 29th July 2019 announced that it has resolved to allow Hon. Alidu Seidu, MCE- Asokore Mampong who was the defeated Parliamentary candidate in the 2016 elections to contest unopposed for the 2020 elections.

The party warned parliamentary candidates hopefuls seeking to contest the other defeated 2016 parliamentary candidates appointed as DCEs for the remaining two orphan constituencies in the Ashanti region to hold their horses.

But, Manaf Ibrahim, the former deputy Ashanti Regional Secretary of the party who is seeking to lead the party into election 2020 as Asawase parliamentary candidate told Host Henry Lord on Ejura based Naagyei FM that nothing will stop him from realizing his dream.

“This sort of concert by the Regional Executive will not be entertained here in Asawase, nobody can stop me from achieving my aim. Even though I had declared my intention to contest the primary none of the executives had the courage to call and ask me to back down. Their scheming to disallow me to contest by not bringing nomination forms to the Constituency office has failed, I managed to pick my nomination forms from the party’s Headquarters in Accra and I’m filing my nomination forms on Thursday, August 1, 2019 back home in Asawase. I’ll win the primary and ultimately go on to win the 2020 election and become the Member of Parliament for Asawase.”
