Chief Justice Sofia Akuffo has asked the Municipal Chief Executive of Ejura-Sekyedumase, Hon. Salisu Mohammed Bamba to take immediate steps to build a new court facility for the area.
She bemoaned the poor state of the court building in Ejura which she noted is below the requisite standard of the Judicial Service and lacks the confidentiality that the court needs.
The Chief Justice gave the directive when she visited Ejura as part of her tour to the Ashanti Region to acquaint herself with challenges facing the judicial system in the region.
The Deputy Judicial Secretary, Northern Sector, Samuel Yiadom in an interview with Naagyei FM said the MCE must put a new court building because the current one cannot be rehabilitated.
“The CJ is very concerned about the poor state of the court building here in Ejura, but she’s decided not to shut it down. The MCE has been asked to take steps to build a new one because the current one cannot be rehabilitated. The Chiefs must pile pressure on the assembly to ensure they construct a new court building befitting of the area.”
Her Ladyship the Chief Justice has had occasion to reject a newly refurbished magistrate court in the Wassa East district assembly because it failed to meet the requisite standard.
She said the judicial service
