COVID-19: Govt suspends Independence anniversary parade

President Nana Akufo-Addo has directed the suspension of the 64th Independence Anniversary parade due to the high prevalence rate of COVID-19 infections in the country.

All related activities of the anniversary have equally been suspended.

A statement signed by Deputy Director- Ghana Education Service, Mr Anthony Boateng entreated all Regional Directors to bring this important directive to the notice of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Education Directors and Heads of all institutions under their jurisdiction for strict compliance.

Meanwhile, nine(9) more Ghanaians have succumbed to COVID-19 increasing Ghana’s death toll to 542, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has reported.

A total of 656 new cases of infection has sent the active case count to 7,850.

Recoveries stand at 68,100 with a total number of confirmed cases of 76,492.

Out of the total number of active cases, 87 patients are in severe condition while 31
others are in critical condition.
