Ejura C’ttee recommending for a recreational facility an insult to Ejura youth – MP

The Member of Parliament for Ejura-Sekyedumase, Bawa Braimah has condemned the Committee that investigated the violence in Ejura that lead to the death of two people for recommending the building of a recreational centre to get the youth busy and prevent them from engaging in violence.

According to him, the recommendation is in bad taste as the youth of Ejura are not lazy but engage in farming to feed their families from their sweat and toil.

“That specific recommendation is an insult to the youth of Ejura. Let me put it on record, the youth of Ejura are not lazy people, most of them are farmers and they farm to earn a decent living. We just don’t go round rampaging for money, no, it is not so. So for them to say that they should set up a recreational centre to get the youth to be busy, to me is an insult. The youth of Ejura are decent people who toil to feed their families.”

Touching on the recommended compensation for those injured, Hon. Bawa Braima MP stated that no amount of compensation will be enough to restore those badly injured included the 16-year old whose leg has been amputated.

He called for the prosecution of the soldiers who fired gunshots leading to the injuries sustained, adding that, that is the only way justice can be served to families of the deceased and the injured persons.
