Farmers in Ejura Sekyedumase Municipality of the Ashanti Region are complaining bitterly of the high increment of agrochemicals and fertilizers prices in the country.
According to the farmers, last year, agrochemicals like weedicides were sold for GHC12 as compared to this year’s price of GHC45, and due to the hike in prices of agrochemicals, they are finding it difficult to farm this year.
The worried farmers in an interview with Naagyei FM’s Kwabena Adjei Adomarakwa said, Ejura Sekyedumase is the food basket of Ghana, hence they are pleading with the government to reduce prices of agrochemicals and fertilizes to make it easy for them to farm.
Some input dealers on their part confirmed the high prices of agrochemicals and attributed it to the challenges facing the Ghanaian economy.
