Fire guts Ejura market

Fire has swept through the Ejura Market in the Ashanti Region destroying goods worth thousands of cedis Wednesday dawn.

Wooden structures that stored farm produce such as sorghum, millet, and maize, were razed down by the huge fire.

It took the timely intervention by officers of the Ghana National Fire Service to prevent the fire from spreading to other parts of the market.

The Ejura/Sekyedumase Municipal Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service DO III Festus Opoku Boafo in an interview with Naagyei FM stated that the fire might have been caused by rubbish which was being burnt around the market.

No casualties were recorded. The exact cost of damage is yet to be determined.
