IGP tours crime-prone areas in ‘Central East’ Region

The Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, and some members of the Police Management Board (POMAB) have embarked on a tour of some crime-prone areas in the Central East Region.

The Central East Region is a newly created Police Administrative region, out of the Central Region.

The entourage stopped over at the family house of the nine-year-old boy Micheal Nyarkoh who was incidentally shot during the current Awutu festival, to commiserate with the family.

The team proceeded to Senya-Breku District, where the entourage paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of Awutu Traditional Area, Nai Abokuady Wyettey Agyeman Otabil III.

The tour undertaken was to among others, review ground combat operations, interact with the chiefs and people of the region and as well interact with personnel on the ground on the security situation in the area.

The region has over the past few years recorded high cases relating to serious crimes such as robbery, and murder.
