The Paramount Chief of Sekyedumase in the Ashanti Region, Nana Antwi Boasiako I, has appealed to President Akufo Addo to calve Sekyedumase from the existing Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipal assembly into a new district assembly.
According to the Chief, the elevation of Sekyedumase to a district status is long overdue as the town has everything that qualifies it to be made a district.
“It is wrong for anybody to assume that Ejura-Sekyedumase is one town, that is absolutely not the case. Sekyedumase was formerly under the Offinso District while Ejura was under Mampong District and the two towns were merged into one district. But for some time now all we’ve been hearing is that there’s an invitation for you come to Ejura, this development is worrying. Authorities should let us feel we’re accorded the same respect given to Ejura.
“Sekyedumase has produced great personalities in all fields of endeavors including Yaw Buabeng Asamoah the MP for Adenta and Communications Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party. I appeal to his excellency the President to consider elevating Sekyedumase to district status,” Nana Antwi Boasiako I, told President Akufo Addo when he paid him a courtesy call at his Palace during the President’s tour of the Ashanti Region.
He added that other issues of concern to the people of Sekyedumase is the provision of a health centre and the enhancement of security in the town.
