The Electoral Commission(EC) has extended its intended timeline for declaring 2020 Presidential election results.
The new time, the EC said will be communicated shortly.
In a statement issued, the Commission continually reiterated that transparency, integrity, and fairness are the yardsticks by which it conducted the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
“As such, to ensure that the declared Presidential results are 100% accurate and reflective of the will of the people, the Commission entreats the public and all stakeholders to exercise patience as the collation process continues in the presence of political party agents and election observes,” it added.
The Electoral Commission had earlier announced that it will declare the results of the election within 24 hours after the polls end.
It was expected that the Commission will declare the winner at 5pm, today Tuesday, December 8, 2020.
