A/R: Girl,13, beaten with wire for choosing school over farm at Frante

A thirteen-year-old class four pupil at Frante M/A primary school in the Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipality of the Ashanti Region, Mavis Arko has been mercilessly beaten with a wire by her uncle.

Narrating to Ejura-based Naagyei FM Reporter, Nana Ofori on what led to the assault, the victim said her father’s brother asked her to join him to the farm to work, but she declined with the excuse that she was going to school and would not want to miss any subject.

She said this infuriated her uncle who seized her, removed her clothes, and beat her with a wire. This left the victim with body pains and huge marks on her back.

The Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipal Director of Education, Akwasi Frimpong Haruna who condemned the assault has reported the incident to the Social Welfare Department.

He was in the process of lodging a complaint with the Police at the time of filing this report.
