C/R: Suspected thieves tortured at galamsey site

Two suspected thieves accused of attempting to rob a galamsey site at Denkyira Nkotimso in the Central Region have been arrested and tortured.

The suspected had tried to explain themselves and plead innocent but the angry mob showed no mercy, stripped them naked, and subjected them to severe beatings.

The Youth Chief of Nkotimso pulled a gun and shot at the legs of one of the accused persons severely injuring him in the process.

A Chineseman who owns the galamsey site and some Ghanaians who assaulted the duo were arrested by the police and were subsequently released.

However, the Youth Chief is currently said to be on the run.

An investigation is still underway.
