Deliver on your mandate – GUTA Presidential Task Force on trade

DELIVER ON YOUR MANDATE-GUTA The President of Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) Dr. Joseph Obeng has exhorted the Presidential Task Force on trade to ececute their core mandate of sanitizing the markets to avert further encumbrances. He made this known when the national executives of GUTA engaged traders in the Eastern Region in Koforidua.

The meeting was to have a first hand information on the challenges their grappling with in their trade.

This he said the Trade Minister has assured GUTA of the task force preparedness to sanitize the market to the latter this time round. He opined that not that GUTA does not like foreigners but the retail trade is a preserve for Ghanaians but foreigners have taken over the markets. He said there is simmering tension among traders but GUTA has placated them to remain calm.

Dr.Joseph Obeng reiterated the need for the government to establish a parallel bank instead of the recent NBSSI stimulus package that will give loans to traders at low-interest rates.

He said this Traders’ bank mechanism will compel the mainstream banks to reduce their high-interest rates.

He averred that People’s expectation to get the stimulus package is very high and has resulted in over subscription.
