Ghana Card: NIA begins mass registration today

The National Identification Authority (NIA) will today begin the mass registration of Ghanaians for the Ghana Card nationwide.

The exercise is scheduled to begin today 29 April 2019, in the Accra West area of the Greater Accra Region and round up in the Central Region on 31 March 2020.

The registration will start from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day (excluding Sunday and Public holidays).

This registration is open to only Ghanaians aged 15 years and above and resident in the designated Municipalities of operation.

Executive Secretary to the National Identification Authority, Professor Kenneth Agyemang Attafuah at a Presser last week said that the Ghana Card will replace other cards in the system, and must be accepted by all institutions as valid ID cards.

At least, 7,000 temporary staff have been recruited and trained for the exercise.
