IGP instructs Snr. Police officers to supervise patrols, traffic checks

The Police Administration has directed senior police officers to begin the supervision of Highway patrols, traffic checks and snap operations on the roads.

This is to crack down on the Police unprofessional conduct on traffic duties.

“A special task force has been instituted to conduct periodic checks on the roads by interviewing drivers, passengers and other road users to collect further information on allegation of such unprofessional conduct by police officers.” a statement issued by the Police and signed by the Director-General of the Public Affairs Directorate, ACP David Eklu said.

Additionally, the Police will announce a number to receive public complaints, videos and messages of unprofessional police behavior.

The action comes a week after Mr. Oppong-Boanuh  was confirmed as IGP by President Akufo-Addo having acted at the position for some months.
