The main opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) has postponed its Presidential primaries slated for January, 26, 2019 following a lawsuit challenging the modalities for the internal polls.
The leadership of the party claims it has minimal time on its hands to prepare adequately for the polls after it was hit with the lawsuit.
The two parties in the injunction case are billed to file their terms of settlement on Thursday for it to be adopted as a consent judgement after negotiations of out- of-court settlement.
A Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Peter Boamah Otukonor has said a new date will be announced after the party leadership meets tomorrow, January, 17, 2019.
“We certainly have one week to the elections should we clear off the hurdle in court tomorrow…we’re hoping that after we clear the legal hurdles tomorrow, we will sit down and look at a new date that will fit the other electoral activities. So 26th, obviously one week from now may not be possible, but we will announce a date.” he told Accra-based Citi FM.
