Ursula’s ‘brothel’ comment indecent, offensive – Haruna Atta

Former Ghana High Commissioner to Namibia Abdul Rahman Haruna-Attah has criticized Communications Minister, Ursula Owusu Ekuful over the use of what he described as a derogatory letter addressed to a Member of Parliament.

The Communications Minister in an official letter to the Minority Spokesperson on Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson said “she would not go to a brothel for a lesson on good morals”.

She took a swipe at Ejumako-Enyan-Esiam MP over his call for the government to withdraw its directive to telcos over the Communication Service Tax (CST).

The former Deputy Finance Minister’s call came after the Communications Minister ordered the telcos to stop passing on the 9% Communication Service Tax (CST) to subscribers.

But speaking to Bola Ray on Starr Chat on Starr FM Wednesday, Haruna Attah who’s a veteran Journalist described the action of the Communications Minister as not befitting of her position.

“I’ve seen and read the letter to the Ranking Member in which she stated if she needs advice she won’t go a brothel. You can’t say this under our Coat of Arms, you don’t have the right to use that language under our Coat of Arms. It is a sacrosanct thing that is why it is restricted to the Ministry, Presidency.

“…This is offensive extremely so and to a Ranking Member of our sovereign Parliament, we shouldn’t do that. We should start minding our language. You don’t misbehave with our Coat of Arms,” Haruna Atta fumed.
